In efforts to continue our mission of providing community education, awareness and contributions to our professions, Milestones is pleased to host several upcoming continuing education opportunities. We have established relationships with several respected and renowned speakers to bring ‘cutting edge’ information to the therapy community in the Rio Grande Valley. Many of these courses will be open to the public, to both area professionals and others from around the country.

Focus on Communication: Matching Learner Needs with Instructional Strategies for Individuals with Autism
- Presented by: Renee Wendell, MS CCC-SLP

Course Description:
In this one-day workshop, you will learn to identify specific client needs, and use evidence-based therapeutic interventions to create individualized, client-specific programs for clients on the autism spectrum. You will also learn how to implement behavioral intervention strategies to more effectively manage challenging behaviors in therapy and in the classroom. This course will help you differentiate between valid, effective therapeutic techniques, and those that are less empirically validated. Video case presentations will be used to illustrate points and demonstrate techniques..

Fundamental and Advanced Kinesio-Taping, KT1 & KT2

Course Description:
This seminar will give an overview of the Kinesio Taping method and its differences as compared to other taping methods. The Kinesio Taping method is used for treatment of overuse injuries, stimulate weak muscles and decrease pain and swelling. The KT2 course builds on the KT1 course.
