Due to the often complicated postural issues that are encountered by patients at Milestones, our clinicians are skilled to become part of the team in making selections and modifications to durable medical equipment including customized wheelchairs/seating systems, walkers, standers, feeding positioners, bathing/grooming equipment and alternative sleeping options. Our clinic has developed excellent relationships with local DME vendors to help provide mobility and positioning equipment needs for our patients. These may include completing equipment evaluations, molding custom chairs with the therapist assisting with positioning, and performing modifications and repairs for wheelchairs, gait trainers, standers, bath chairs, etc.
With ongoing changes in funding for such equipment, we recognize the need to assist our patient’s families across the most comprehensive and appropriate equipment for their child, so that the device can be modified as postural changes or growth occur. Our therapists work with the family’s preferred DME company to schedule a time at the clinic so that the vendor, therapist, and family can work together to select the most appropriate device for each child’s unique needs. Our services include initial assessment, repairs and modification.
